Fred Fails to Get Max Sigs…
In further evidence that Fred Ronstadt doesn’t have the support even of his own party, he failed to file the maximum allowable number of nomination signatures with the City Clerk to qualify as a candidate.
The law requires that candidates for city office file a minimum number of nominating signatures from registered voters in the ward in which they are running in order to qualify for the ballot. It also indicates a maximum amount that you can turn in at that time. Most candidates turn in the maximum number to show their level of grassroots support. In the case of the Ward 6 Democratic primary, the minimum number was 436, and the maximum was 872. We turned in the max 872, and have collected hundreds more.
In the Ward 6 Republican Primary, the minimum number was 234 and the max was 467. Despite being a two-term incumbent and having more than eight months to gather signatures from Ward 6 Republicans, Independents, Greens, and people with no party preference, Fred was only able to turn in 350 signatures. He qualified for the ballot, but revealed his lack of support.
Even members of Fred’s own party agree–it’s time for him to go.
